Mach Verstocket became APRL’s first supersonic rocket, blasting through the sky at an incredible Mach 1.15, a milestone for rocketry at UC Davis. Originally designed as a solid‑motor subscale testbed for our full‑scale liquid‑propulsion vehicle, Verstocket stands 83.25 inches tall with a 3.12‑inch diameter airframe.
Outfitted with carbon‑fiber fins, three onboard flight computers, and a full‑flight camera payload, this rocket wasn’t just built to fly, but to perform. And perform it did. In May 2025, Verstocket roared off the pad on an L1000W‑18 motor, soaring to a peak altitude of 9,900 feetand cementing its place as one of APRL’s most thrilling achievements.
The name “Mach Verstocket” comes from the F1’s World Drivers' Champion Max Verstappen, known to dominate F1 circuits with extreme speed just like our mach vehicle dominated the sky.
